          Class / Mechanism of Action
          Antibiotic (Fluoroquinolone)
          Bactericidal - DNA gyrase inhibitor and topoisomerase IV inhibitor–which is an essential enzyme that
          maintains the superhelical structure, replication, transcription, and repair of bacterial DNA.
          Indications
          Labeled Indications: Used for infection control prophylaxis for traumatic open injuries and surgical
          prophylaxis.
          Contraindications
          •  Hypersensitivity to cefazolin, other cephalosporin antibiotics, other beta-lactams, or any component of
            the formulation
          •  May cause QT prolongation.
          •  Avoid use in known aortic aneurysm or dissection
          Adverse Reactions / Precautions
          •  Superinfection – prolonged use may result in fungal or bacterial superinfection (including C.Difficile)
