Tourniquet Phobia
• “But - I learned that tourniquets are dangerous
and should only be used only as a last resort!”
• This is a medical “Urban Myth” that has cost the
lives of thousands of casualties and trauma victims.
• Many thousands of tourniquets were used
in the US Military in Iraq and Afghanistan.
• ZERO limbs were lost from tourniquet
use in those two conflicts.
• 2 hours of tourniquet time is very safe.
