b. MEDIAL incision
The dotted line represents the palpable tibial border and
the solid line on the tibia represents the incision line.
i) The skin incision is created one finger (ap-
proximately 2 centimeters behind the medial
aspect of the tibial bone. The skin incision
should be extended across the middle third of
the lower leg.
ii) After incising the skin, use blunt dissec-
tion to get down to the fascia.
iii) Incise the fascia to expose the muscle underlying below.
iv) Make the fascial incision the full length of
the skin incision.
NOTE: The muscle will “pop” out from pressure through the incision.
c. Initiate Urgent evacuation.
