Nausea and Vomiting
SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS:
1. Avoid rapid IV administration of promethazine (Phenergan).
2. DO NOT give subcutaneous promethazine (Phenergan).
3. Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) and promethazine (Phenergan) may cause drowsiness.
Signs and Symptoms:
Nausea and vomiting
Management:
1. Ondansetron (Zofran) 4–8mg IV/IM/PO q4hr PRN.
2. OR Diphenhydramine (Benadryl) 25–50mg IV/IM/PO q6hr PRN (may be useful for vertigo
or motion sickness).
3. Treat per Dehydration Protocol.
DISPOSITION:
1. Evacuate per Protocol for underlying condition.
