Portuguese Paratroopers were the Quick Reaction Force (QRF) for the United Nations Peacekeeping
operation MINUSCA (UNITED NATIONS MULTIDIMENSIONAL INTEGRATED STABILIZATION MISSION
IN THE CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC).
While en route from BANGUI to SIBUT, Portuguese QRF pull security while their medical personnel
give medical aid to the local population involved in a MASCAL car accident. The medical personnel
assisted victims until being relieved by local medical NGOs and the International Red Cross. A victim
with an exposed fractured was their major concern as he had lost some blood and needed emergency
intervention with a TQ and splinting.
