Gary “Doc” Welt

Master Chief Petty Officer Gary
Edward Welt, 55, of Seminole, FL, de
parted to his final duty station on 8
April. He was at home surrounded by
his family and friends.
Gary was born 7 June 1958, in Hunt
ing ton Park, CA. He was the son of
Barton Binx and Gwen Adair Wessman
Welt. Gary joined the U.S. Navy in
1976, becoming a Navy SEAL in 1980
and retiring as the USSOCOM U.S.
Naval Service Senior Enlisted Advisor/

From 2006 to 2010, he was a contract
Counter terrorism Operations Officer
for Celestar in support of U.S. Central
Com mand. From 2011 to 2012, Gary
worked for the Trident Group conduct
ing counterpiracy operations. He was a
member of the UDT SEAL Association,
Special Forces Association, Chapter
40, Special Operations Medical Asso
cia tion, and National Rifle Association.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17
years, Brenda Ann Thomp son Welt of
Seminole; son Robert Lee Bryce Welt,
wife Meagan, and granddaughter Lillian
Grace of Clearwater; daughter Crystal
Lynn Elliott, husband Jason Novotny,
and grandchildren Meadow and Andon
of Clearwater; daughter Sabrina Audell
Ranford, husband Gopal, and grandson
Michael of Clear water; and brothers
Robert “Bob” Welt and wife Sharon of
California, and Donald Wolford and wife
Carol of California. He is also survived
by his two dogs, Kallie and Kaden.
