          Preceptor Directive:
             • Green Directive: Routine Review by Preceptor IAW AFI 44-103

Shaving Waivers are very commonly given. Be sure to educate the member on the
regulations to which they must adhere. See example verbiage below:

Member has a medical condition that precludes them from conforming to AFI 36-2903
beard length. Member may be required to shave closely due to operational
requirements, at the discretion of the commander, or for any training requirements
that include, but are not limited to, proper wear of gas masks, respirators, and
occupational masks. Member must be able to pass a gas mask fit test. If the member
is having significant or recurrent breakouts or scarring from shaving, re-evaluation at
the Medical Treatment Facility is recommended. Keep this profile in possession at all
times. Make a follow-up appointment for re-evaluation prior to expiration date. This
          waiver expires in five years.
